On this tour you will get to experience one of the last true wild places on Earth!

Trip Overview

Tarcoles & Carara National Park (Central Pacific)

Days 1 & 2

A short trip from the airport will take you to your home for the next few nights. Begin the trip by spending the evening watching Scarlet Macaws, Parrots, and Parakeets fly around you as you watch the sun set over Nicoya Bay. Enjoy a delicious meal and cocktail along with a breathtaking view! Get rested up for an adventure to Carara National Park the next morning to look for many different types of birds and mammals such as Jacamars, Trogons, and Motmots. In the afternoon we take a boat ride through the mangroves of the Tarcoles River to look for Crocodiles, Mangrove Hummingbirds, Roseate Spoonbills, Tiger Herons, and more.

Osa Part 1: Corcovado National Park (Gulfo Dulce & Los Patos Station)

Days 3, 4, & 5

We begin our Osa experience on the eastern side of the Peninsula. After checking into the lodge, we will spend the afternoon exploring trails along the property and watching birds from the top of the observation tower. Take in the sights and sounds of the jungle in a screened open air  bungalow without walls obstructing your enjoyment. This is a true sensory experience! The next morning we travel to the Los Patos ranger station by way of a tractor pulled passenger wagon up a dry river bed. We will keep an eye out for hawks, monkeys, and a wide variety of birds. The next morning our birding guides will take us to several other local hot spots to look for more birds and wildlife.

Osa Part 2: Corcovado National Park (Drake Bay & Sirena Station)

Days 6, 7, & 8

A boat ride down the Sierpe River into Drake Bay brings us to the most remote and wild corner of Costa Rica. Our ecolodge is nestled on 12 pristine private acres overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The property also borders Corcovado National Park, which has over 10,000 acres of undeveloped Rain Forest. The next morning we take a boat ride that will take us even deeper into the jungle to the Sirena ranger station. Here we will be looking for Tapirs lounging on the riverbanks, Great Curassows roosting in Ficus Trees, Tanagers and Hummingbirds fluttering from flower to flower, and, if we are lucky, the tracks of Jaguars that used the same trails the night before. The next day you will have the option of visiting the San Pedrillo ranger station or slipping on your flippers to go snorkeling around Cano Island.

There and Back Again (Central Pacific)

Days 9 & 10

We take a boat ride from Drake Bay back up the Sierpe River to Sierpe. We will drive a few hours north to a beautiful hotel where we will spend our last night and enjoy a fantastic dinner with a view of the Pacific Ocean. The next morning we say 'hasta pronto' to the land of Pura Vida then head to the airport for our flights home.

Please Note: This trip includes a moderate level of strenuous activities. Due to the remoteness of several areas we will be exploring, they can only be accessed by small boat. We will have several 'feet wet' beach landings throughout the trip. You must be able to climb in and out of a small boat using a small ladder in knee deep water. Our guides will be there to assist you, however you may be required to carry your day pack on and off the boat. The Osa Peninsula is often very warm and you will need to be able to walk for extended periods of time in the heat along a variety of different terrains. This includes soft sandy beach trails, jungle trails with uneven and sometimes wet and muddy conditions, and moderate inclines up hills.
