Fly in to San Jose and then travel with us to the Pacific Coast to explore Carara National Park & Rio Tarcoles. Get up close with a wide variety of birds that call Carara home, as well as giant Crocodiles that live in the Tarcoles River. Next we head up to the high elevations of the cloud forest in the Savegre Valley, home to the magnificent Resplendent Quetzal, a bird revered as a God by ancient cultures. Our next stop will take you to the ancient ruins of Guayabo and to the rim of an active volcano (not currently erupting). Let your hair down and enjoy a change of pace as we head down to the to the crystal clear waters and pristine Rainforests of the southern Caribbean coast. While in the Caribbean we will explore Cahuita National Park and visit a Great Green Macaw sanctuary. Next we travel upriver in a motorized dugout canoe to spend the night in an indigenous Bribri community. Learn how to make delicious, authentic chocolate from the people who invented it and immerse yourself in the native culture of Costa Rica! We end this amazing trip in the Caribbean Foothills looking for endemic birds in Baurlio Carrillo National Park.
